The Layered House in Rabka-Zdrój divides its programme into horizontal layers: zones with different degrees of privacy that allow residents and guests to pursue independent activities.
Below ground, reached by a ramp cut into the terrain, is a garage for four cars conceived as a showroom – a place to spend time among the cars. The dark, refined ground floor, finished in quartz sinter, holds the living area and opens via a terrace onto the garden. The white upper floor, with warm timber on the terraces, contains bedrooms, a gym and a library; detached from its base, it appears to float. The composition is closed by the dark cube of the top floor: a relaxation zone with a TV room, a spa and a terrace of several hundred square metres with a panoramic view of the mountains.
A key element of the composition is a wall running from the house towards the entrance drive, along the ramp. It screens the house from the neighbours, divides the garden and leads naturally to the entrance. We took the project to the technical and detailed design stage.
