SOLAR ANALYSIS

Light is a design material for us, not merely a parameter to be met. We start working with it before the building exists: already when analysing the development capacity of the site. It is the sun, alongside regulations and context, that decides how much can be built on a plot and in what arrangement.

We work on two tracks. With the classic sun ruler we verify insolation and shading in line with the requirements of the regulations. In parallel we use advanced scripts in the Grasshopper environment with the Ladybug package, which let us study many variants of the form and see how a change in the massing translates into light inside the building and in its surroundings.

Solar analysis stays with us throughout the project: from the capacity study, through the concept, to the building permit design. Every change of the massing is checked as we go, so light is not verified at the end — it shapes the design from the first analysis of the plot to the final decision.
