Model visualisations let us look at architecture in a more synthetic way — without the excess of information that comes with conventional photorealistic renderings. Massing, proportion, composition and spatial relationships come to the fore. The form, not its surroundings, becomes the subject of the image.

We take our cue from architectural model photography — a neutral background, studio lighting and a characteristic depth of field. Unlike a physical model, however, a digital model lets us test variants freely, change design solutions and compare them without building model after model.

We treat model visualisations not only as a way of presenting a finished concept, but also as a design tool. They let us assess architecture in its most essential aspects — before materials, context and atmosphere begin to shape how it is perceived.
